Manual Educational Complex To Celebrate 110-Year School Anniversary Wednesday, Nov. 10

The Manual Educational Complex will hold its 110-year anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 in the school auditorium and foyer. The event will be the first of three celebrating the school's anniversary. All Manual alumni are encouraged to attend.

All three Manual high schools (Arts & Cultural, Leadership and Millennium Quest), in cooperation with the Friends of Manual Alumni group, will celebrate 110 years of history and tradition with dancers, selections from the reformed Thunderbolt Ensemble and a special video presentation of past and present Manual Thunderbolts in action.

"Even though Manual has been divided into three schools, I felt that it was important to keep our history together," said Marsha Pointer, principal of Manual Leadership High School.

The event will include the rededication of the Thunderbolt Pride Mural with two additions: Elbra Wedgeworth (Manual class of 74), Denver City Council Woman; Bruce Hoyt (Manual class of 76), Denver Board of Education member and co-founder of the Friends of Manual Alumni group.

In addition, the school will honor 110 Thunderbolt heroes, and all alumni who are veterans, including J. Hunter Wickersham, Congressional Medal of Honor winner and LT. Col. John Mosley, retired Air Force and member of the Tuskegee Airmen.

"Not many schools can celebrate 110 years, so we are very proud," said Pointer.
