Highly Gifted Program Information Nights Begin Next Week; Application Deadline For 2005-2006 Is Dec. 10, 2004
Information nights will be held in November so parents and students may find out more about the Highly Gifted Program in Denver Public Schools.
Elementary and middle school nominations for 2005-2006 are due Dec. 10, 2004, and are available in all district schools and online at http://gt.dpsk12.org. Nomination forms also are available through the Gifted and Talented Education Department, 303-405 8272. All students who apply will be scheduled for district testing in January.
This program, now in its twentieth year, provides an appropriate educational setting for students in grades one through eight with extraordinary academic needs, abilities or potential. This program is housed throughout the district in seven elementary schools and at Morey Middle School. Students who qualify as high achieving students through the same nomination process may attend this program on a space-available basis at some program sites.
All Highly Gifted Program information nights will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Please consider attending any session for general information for grades one through eight. Spanish translation will be available at all meetings.
The program nights will be held at the following locations on these dates:
- Monday, Nov. 1 at Cory Elementary School (also information particular to Southmoor and Carson programs), 1550 S. Steele St.
- Thursday, Nov. 4 at Edison Elementary School, 3350 Quitman St.
- Monday, Nov. 8 at Gust Elementary School, 3440 W. Yale Ave.
- Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Polaris Program at Ebert Elementary School, 410 Park Avenue West.
- Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Morey Middle School, 840 E. 14th Ave.
- Thursday, Nov. 18 at McGlone Elementary School, 4500 Crown Blvd.
