School Revitalization Effort On September Edition Of "DPS Today" Monthly Television Show
The September 2004 edition of "DPS Today" - the monthly television show about Denver Public Schools on Denver cable 8 - features an in-depth discussion about the district's on-going school revitalization process.
The show features interviews with Henry Middle School principal Wendy Lanier and Hill Middle School principal Don Roy.
Both Hill and Henry middle schools are among the 13 identified by the Denver Board of Education as eligible to tap 2003 mill levy funds earmarked to help schools improve student achievement and, as a result, regain support from the local community.
On the show, both principals also discuss the challenges of middle school education.
The show will begin airing Wednesday, Sept. 1 on Denver 8 cable. The show can be seen every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. and every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. throughout the month.
The show is hosted by News 4 education reporter Anna Alejo.
Denver stations 22 and 48 also re-broadcast "DPS Today." Channel 22 is the DPS channel on Comcast cable in Denver. Channel 48 is an ITFS microwave channel that is received only within all DPS facilities and delivered on cable channel 48 in the each classroom. On Sundays, the show for the current month airs at 4 p.m. on channels 22 and 48, followed by a screening of the show from the previous month at 4:30 p.m. On Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. and on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., the current show also airs.
