Commission On School Nutrition And Physical Activity Reviews District Beverage Contract At Meeting On Tuesday, Aug. 3
The DPS Commission on School Nutrition and Physical Activity will meet from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 in the first floor Board room at the administration building, 900 Grant St. The meeting is open to interested community members.
The agenda includes a presentation of the district's renegotiated beverage contract with Pepsi; continued discussion on school nutrition in DPS; the recommended plan for reviewing promising practices and policies from other school systems and states; and discussions on holding a public forum and conducting a student survey to solicit community input.
The commission is co-chaired by Board member Elaine Gantz Berman and Dr. Reginald "Reggie" Washington, a prominent pediatric cardiologist from Colorado who, among many other regional and national appointments, is co-chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics National Task Force on Obesity. Recommendations are expected by December 2004.
The next meeting is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in the first floor board room at the administration building, 900 Grant St.
