Board Of Education Agenda For Choice Conference Friday, Aug. 20
The stated purpose of the "Choice Conference" is to "develop a proactive strategy and set of policies for Denver Public Schools that addresses the choice movement in a way that creates opportunities to better meet student and family needs, and is consistent with maximizing financial resources available district-wide."
The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Washington Park Bathhouse (600 S. Marion Pkwy). on the north side of Smith Lake.
The meeting agenda includes "A Framework for School Choice in the District: Core Beliefs and Approaches Regarding Choice," "Overview of Choice Models," "A Systemic Approach to School Choice" and "Moving Forward with the Plan." The meeting also will include time for guest comments and session evaluation.
Denver Public Schools provides students and families with a wide variety of neighborhood schools, alternative schools, the Career Education Center, the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning, magnet schools, magnet programs and charter schools. The district serves about 72,000 students in Early Childhood Education (four-year-olds) through twelfth-grade.
