Gilpin Elementary School To Host First Revitalization Meeting Thursday, Aug. 26
Gilpin Elementary School Principal Cathy Gonzales and Northeast Area Assistant Superintendent John Youngquist are inviting community members interested in the school revitalization process to attend an introductory meeting Thursday, Aug. 26. The meeting and will run from 6-8 p.m. at the school.
The meeting will be a forum to welcome the community and inform them about the revitalization efforts at Gilpin Elementary. Gilpin parents, neighborhood parents who choice out of Gilpin, school staff members, Assistant Area Superintendent, a facilitator and non-parent community members will then form a committee to develop a revitalization plan.
Gilpin Elementary School was one of 13 schools named by the Board of Education as eligible for revitalization - one of the mill levy proposals approved by voters in November 2003. The revitalization component included $2.5 million to develop plans to increase student achievement and increase the attractiveness of neighborhood schools to the community.
