The July 2004 edition of “DPS Today” - the monthly television show about Denver Public Schools on Denver cable 8 - features an in-depth discussion with two members of the new Commission on Secondary School Reform, a group charged with exploring changes to improve the district’s graduation rate and lower the district’s dropout rate.
Co-chair Dorothy Horrell, president of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, and commission executive director Patricia McNeil will discuss how the 27-member commission is preparing to make recommendations, among other things, for the best use of the $2 million earmarked by voters in November 2003 for secondary school reform.
The show can be seen every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. and every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. throughout the month.
Denver stations 22 and 48 also re-broadcast “DPS Today.” Channel 22 is the DPS channel on Comcast cable in Denver. Channel 48 is an ITFS microwave channel that is received only within all DPS facilities and delivered on cable channel 48 in the each classroom. On Sundays, the show for the current month airs at 4 p.m. on channels 22 and 48, followed by a screening of the show from the previous month at 4:30 p.m. On Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. and on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., the current show also airs.
