The Board of Education will hold a work session, public comment and regular meeting on Thursday, June 3 at the administration building, 900 Grant St.
Following is a review of agenda highlights:
4 p.m. - Work Session, Room 706 (Please note some items may not be considered until after the regular meeting)
- Review of Board meeting agenda items
- Negotiations/legal (closed)
- Student fees
- Northeast area update
- Contract schools
5 p.m. - Regular Meeting, first floor Board Room
- Construction contracts for Bryant-Webster, Cheltenham, Cowell and Greenlee elementary schools, Skinner Middle School, West High School, the CLA remodeling and the Yuma Street facility.
- Motion to approve a tentative agreement with the Denver Association of Educational Office Professionals.
- Motion to approve the land transfer at George Washington High School.
- Motion to approve the construction advisory committee’s final report for Gust Elementary School.
- Resolution to approve 2004-2005 tuition rates for non-resident students, foreign students and special education services.
- Motion to approve the naming of the new Green Valley Ranch K-8 School facility.
- Motion to approve the timeline for considering applications to establish charter schools opening in 2005-2006.
- Introduction of a new policy - ACD, Commitment to Religious Neutrality - and repeal of policy IHAL, Teaching about Religion.
- Introduction of a proposed contract with Escuela Tlatelolco.
7 p.m. - Public Hearing, first floor Board Room
To date, 10 people have signed up to speak during Public Comment about the following topics: truancy reduction project, budget and Schenck Elementary School.
