Holm Elementary School’s Janet Pommrehn was presented with the Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award at the spring 2004 conference of the Colorado Council of the Social Studies on April 15.

Janet Pommrehn is a dedicated second grade teacher at Holm Elementary School). A master teacher, Janet is well known for her ability to integrate social studies into the established curriculum and for her many years as an active advocate for geographic learning. Janet has presented and written curriculum for many organizations including COGA (Colorado Geographic Alliance), PBS, National Geographic and the Colorado Department of Education.

For a number of summers, Janet was the Associate Director of the Colorado Geographic Alliance’s Summer Geography Institutes. In 1996 Janet received the Cram-David Hill Award for Outstanding Achievement for Geographic Education for the State of Colorado.

Ed Davis, a teacher at Overland High School in Cherry Creek Schools, was similarly recognized.
