Local Attorney Supports Reading At Columbine Elementary School

Jim Bye, a local attorney, adopted the third grade students from Columbine Elementary School in September 2003 and challenged them to meet their personal reading goals this year.

Fifteen students accepted the challenge and worked intently all year.  At an awards assembly Monday, May 14, the students received their reward – $200 each.

All students accepting the challenge met their personal goals.

Next year's third grade students will get a similar chance because Mr. Bye has committed to another year.

“My students were so excited and determined,” said third-grade teacher Sharon Jones.  “They stayed focused on their reading goals all year.  I appreciate the generosity of Mr. Bye in supporting these children.  He has truly made a difference in their young lives.”

Columbine Elementary School is located at 2540 E. 29th Ave. The school’s telephone number is 303-388-3617.
