Hogan & Hartson L.L.P., one of the Rocky Mountain region’s largest law firms, yesterday (Tuesday, May 18) launched its new “Ten Acts of Giving Back” program at Denver’s Cheltenham Elementary School. In celebration of the firm’s 10 years in Colorado and the 100th anniversary of the firm’s founding in Washington, D.C., Hogan & Hartson’s three Colorado offices will donate time and money to the communities that have helped it grow to become one the top law firms in the region. Cheltenham Elementary, the venue for yesterday’s announcement, is one of the beneficiaries of Ten Acts of Giving Back.
Inspired by Mayor Hickenlooper’s charge to send the students at Cole Middle School to college, Hogan & Hartson has adopted Cheltenham Elementary. Cheltenham is a Denver public school in significant need of additional mentors for students and for financial support to maintain critical school programs. Hogan & Hartson attorneys and staff will donate their time to the school by tutoring and providing administrative support, mentoring students, leading school supply drives, and staffing the computer lab. In addition, Hogan & Hartson will provide Cheltenham a financial contribution of $30,000 over three years through the Denver Public Schools Foundation. In its first year, the funds will go to support much-needed after-school programs.
“It is really exciting to see a law firm of Hogan & Hartson’s caliber stepping up to the plate for Denver’s kids and for the Colorado community as a whole in this manner,” said Dr. Jerry Wartgow, Superintendent of Denver Public Schools. “This is truly an exceptional commitment that Hogan & Hartson is making to the children and families of Cheltenham Elementary. Everyone in the firm’s Colorado offices should be commended for this wonderful effort.”
“We could not think of a better way to mark 10 years in Colorado," said Tom Strickland, managing partner of Hogan & Hartson's Denver office. “Our partnership with Cheltenham is an example of how business can and should make a difference in communities.”
“Ten Acts of Giving Back builds upon a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism which exists throughout the firm and demonstrates our commitment to the Colorado communities that we serve,” said Dave Scott, a partner with the firm and the chair of the Ten Acts of Giving Back committee in Denver.
This year, the program will benefit several organizations in Boulder, Colorado Springs and Denver, including: Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver, Community Food Share in Boulder and Colorado Mountain Reclamation Foundation in Colorado Springs (complete list provided in below).
