21 Schools To Offer Free Summer Lunch Program For Children

The Denver Public Schools Department of Food and Nutrition Services is sponsoring the free Summer Lunch Program for Children from Monday, June 7 through Friday, July 30 at 13 schools on the traditional calendar and from Monday, June 14 through Friday, July 16 at eight schools on the continuous year calendar.

Service will be five days a week from 11 a.m. to noon. The service will not operate on weekends or on Monday, July 5. Free lunches will be provided to all children ages one through 18.

Meals will be provided at the following schools:

Northeast Area
Barrett Elementary,* 2900 Richard Allen Court; Columbine Elementary, 2540 E. 29th Ave.; Gilpin Elementary, 2949 California St.; Harrington Elementary,* 2401 E. 37th Ave.; Randolph Middle School, 3955 Steele St.; Smith Elementary,* 3590 Jasmine St.; Swansea Elementary, 4650 Columbine St.; and Wyman Elementary,* 1690 Williams St.

Northwest Area
Smedley Elementary,* 4250 Shoshone St.; and Valdez Elementary, 2525 W. 29th Ave.

Southwest Area
Barnum Elementary, 85 Hooker St.; Castro Elementary, 845 S. Lowell Blvd.; College View Elementary, 2675 S. Decatur St.; Munroe Elementary, 3440 W. Virginia Ave.; and Schenck Elementary, 1300 S. Lowell Blvd.

Montbello Area
Amesse Elementary,* 5440 Scranton St.; Greenwood Elementary, 5130 Durham Court; and Maxwell Elementary,* 14390 E. Bolling Dr.

Central Area
Fairmont Elementary,* 520 W. 3rd Ave.; Fairview Elementary, 2715 W. 11th Ave.; and Greenlee Elementary, 1150 Lipan St.

*Continuous year schools (June 14 through July 16)

Adults can purchase meals at a cost of $2.90 each if they eat at the school and at $3 each for meals carried out.
