May 17 Brown Elementary School Revitalization Meeting Postponed

The May 17 Revitalization Committee meeting for Brown Elementary School has been postponed and will be rescheduled when committee members have been selected.

Brown Elementary School is one of 13 schools named by the Board of Education as eligible for revitalization, one of the mill levy proposals approved by voters in November 2003. The revitalization component included $2.5 million of the $20 million annual tax increase approved by voters. Schools will use the money to develop plans to increase student achievement and increase the attractiveness of the schools to the community.

Revitalization committee membership will include two to four individuals from each of these groups: parents of existing students; parents residing in the neighborhood but whose children do not attend the school; representatives from the school's staff, preferably one of whom is a member of the Collaborative School Committee; and non-parent community members.
