Baker Middle School Launches Chapter Of National Junior Honor Society

Baker Middle School inducted 25 sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students into Baker’s Chapter of National Junior Honor Society yesterday (Tuesday, May 11).

Baker Middle School established its first chapter of NJHS earlier this year; 23 students were inducted in the first ceremony in September 2003.

National Junior Honor Society focuses on Leadership, Citizenship, Scholarship, Service and Character. Students apply and are reviewed by the faculty based on these characteristics. Baker’s chapter now has a total of 48 members. Current officers are Cindy Animas, president; Diana Avila, vice-president; Amber Manzanares, secretary; Alma Limon, public affairs; Ashley Perry, historian; and Sarkina Ward, parliamentarian.

The organization’s service project is to provide baby sitting and sponsor games and activities while parents attend Baker’s monthly seminars. “Congratulations to these Baker Trailblazers,” said principal Linda Torres.

Baker Middle School is located at 574 W. 6th Ave. The school’s telephone number is 303-620-5560.
