The Black Education Advisory Council will host a "working" summit to address the issues of student achievement, equity and parent involvement for African-American Students in Denver Public Schools.
The summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Gove Middle School (4050 E. 14th Ave.).
Parents, educators and concerned community members are invited to participate in frank discussions about student needs, resources and strategies that have proven effective in educating diverse student populations.
A cross-section of the Denver community will be represented in the workshops and afternoon work groups. Each work group will use information from the morning sessions to produce a "menu" of recommendations for improving student achievement, parent involvement and staff development in underachieving schools.
A luncheon and awards presentation will be included in the program. Registration is free.
For information and pre-registration, please call Michael Simmons, Department of Community Relations, 720-423-3763.
