Far Northeast Neighbors, Inc. will hold a parade through Montbello on Saturday, May 15 to recognize the history of the neighborhood’s 12 schools and to honor academically outstanding students.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Albertson’s grocery store (5141 Chambers Rd.) and proceed to Montbello High School (5000 Crown Blvd.).
The parade will include the JROTC drill team, the Montbello High School band, Grand Marshall and City Councilman Michael Hancock, classic cars, Shriner motorcycles, and fire trucks and horses among other entries.
In addition, 24 students (one male and one female from each school) will be honored for their academic achievements during the 2003-2004 school year.
A variety of food also will be served representing the neighborhood’s diversity - American, Chinese, German, Italian, Mexican, Polish and Vietnamese.
