John F. Kennedy High School’s Noemi Figeurou Named Paraeducator Of The Year By Colorado Council Of Learning Disabilities

Noemi Figuerou has been named the Colorado Council of Learning Disabilities’ (CCLD) Paraeducator of the Year.
She will be honored at a state conference sponsored by CCLD and the Colorado Department of Education on Saturday, May 1.

Noemi Figuerou has spent 20 years working with children and adults with disabilities. She is currently working with students at John F. Kennedy High School.

"It is important to obtain understanding and knowledge of the kinds of disabilities each of my students has. I am then able to set expectations that challenge their abilities,” says Figuerou, who supports students in the classroom and serves as a job coach, helping students access community resources.

The Colorado Council of Learning Disabilities is a professional organization providing support in researched based instructional practices for teachers and professionals working with students with learning disabilities. The board for CCLD is also proud to announce that it will honor Mary Miceli as the Teacher of the Year. Mary is a special education teacher at Falcon Bluffs Middle School in Jefferson County. Mary will be recognized at the national Council of Learning Disabilities conference in October.

Please contact CCLD Board member Kyle Hughes for further information, 702-886-1184.
