East High School Finishes Second In Regional Speech Tournament; Sends Six Students To National Competition In Salt Lake City In June

Six students from East High School have qualified for the National Speech/Debate Tournament June 13-18 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The students competed at the Rocky Mountain Region tournament on Saturday, April 17. The team from East High School finished second overall. East High School was the only DPS school to qualify for the national tournament.

The qualifiers and the competition in which they qualified are: Tyrell Donaldson and Ali Kimmel for Dramatic Interpretation; Princeton Armstrong, Humorous Interpretation; Sarah Kinnel, Original Oratory; Wendy Whittaker, International Extemporaneous; and Michael Wilkerson for U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking.
