Edison Elementary School First- And Second-Graders To Present “The Wackadoo Zoo” Musical On Thursday, May 6 At North High School

First- and second-graders from Edison Elementary School will perform the musical “The Wackadoo Zoo” at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 6 at North High School in the auditorium. There is no admission fee.

“The Wackadoo Zoo" is a musical by Jill Gallina where the animals don't make the right sounds. The lions say "cock-a doodle-doo," the monkeys say "hee-haw," the pigs say "neigh-neigh," the goats bark and the cows meow!

A professor of linguistics, played by Catherine Garcia, comes to the zoo and tries to correct the animals. Although they try to cooperate with the professor, they just can't adjust, and the moral of the play is that being different is special and a great way to be. The professor gives up, and joins them in the finale with their strange sounds.

First- and second- grade teachers Joanne Stroud, Marienela Wing, Heidi Hockinson, Sinda Burnkrant, Mary Ball and Diane Even are working with students to put on the musical.

Edison Elementary School is located at 3350 Quitman St. North High School is located at 2960 N. Speer Blvd. For more information, contact Debbie Warth, teacher at Edison Elementary School, at 303-455-3615.
