What: A western evening of music (Manuel Molina), food and fun at the Amigos de Sandoval Rodeo de Tesoros/Roundup of Treasures Silent Auction. Items for auction include get-aways to bed & breakfasts, fine art, house cleaning, restaurant gift certificates, massages, furniture, haircuts and many other treasures.
When: Thursday, April 29 from 6-9 p.m. (Manuel Molina will play from 6-7 p.m.)
Where: The historic Lumber Baron Inn, 2555 W. 37th Ave., four blocks east of Federal Blvd.
Why: Proceeds from the event will go to Amigos de Sandoval, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting Academia Sandoval in Denver Public Schools. The school (located at 3655 Wyandot St.) opened its doors in September 2001. Today 220 children at Sandoval receive a unique Dual Language Montessori education. Sandoval serves an economically diverse student body, with 43 percent of the families qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.
How: For tickets - $15 in advance, $20 at the door - please call Shelley Flanagan at 303-715-9175. This is an adult-only event. Free childcare is available at All Saints Day Care at 3650 Yates, one mile west of the Silent Auction, from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
