On Thursday, April 22, as part of Teach Children To Save Day, Youth Advisory Board members from Young Americans Bank will be teaching Lincoln Elementary School students why it is important to save money. Teach Children to Save Day is a nationally designated day for banks to reach out to children in their communities and help them understand the importance of savings.
The activities at Lincoln Elementary School (710 S. Pennsylvania St.) will begin at 1 p.m. Youth Advisory Board co-chairs Jacqueline Abrams, a senior at George Washington High School, and Shelby Holliday, a senior at Cherry Creek High School, will lead an all-school assembly. Young Americans Bank President Linda Childears will also participate. During the assembly, seven students will be presented piggy banks with coins as a result of a “What I Am Saving For” activity in which students drew pictures or wrote stories about their savings plans.
After the assembly, the students will adjourn to their classrooms for money-oriented games led by Youth Advisory Board members. From classrooms of 3- and 4-year olds, to fourth- and fifth-grade multi-age classrooms, students will enjoy learning money and bank terms from older youth while playing Banking Bingo.
