Opera Comes To Samuels Elementary School April 21, 22

Third grade students from Samuels Elementary School and Central City Opera will perform Opera Alive: She Never Lost A Passenger at 2:15 p.m. on April 21 and at 7 p.m. on April 22 at the school. Admission is free.

The entire third grade is learning She Never Lost a Passenger, a 40-minute opera for adults and children about Harriet Tubman and the events of the Underground Railway from the 1860s.  Professional opera singers are coming to sing the main roles in the show and AnnMarie Sandy will sing the role of Harriet.

The show is part of the Central City Opera’s community outreach program, Opera Alive. Central City Opera has produced four previous shows with Samuels Elementary students. OPERA ALIVE, a partnership with local schools, challenges students in elementary and middle schools to create and produce their own opera.

Samuels Elementary School is located at 3985 S. Vincennes Court. For more information, please contact Deb Morrow or Rita Sommers in the Education and Community Programs Office at 303-292-6500.
