Student Reprises Role Father Performed 30 Years Ago In “The Music Man”

George Washington High School will present “The Music Man” beginning Wednesday, March 10 and running until Saturday, March 13 in the Nancy Priest auditorium at the school. Tickets cost $6 in advance and $8 at the door. All show times are at 7 p.m.

Jason Eichenberger will perform in the role of Professor Harold Hill, a part his father played when he attended George Washington 30 years ago.

With roots in Denver, the Eichenberger family has contributed three generations of music to the metro area. Jason’s grandfather, Richard Eichenberger, founder and co-director of the Columbine Chorale, has been a respected choral conductor in Colorado since 1951. He taught vocal music for 30 years in the Denver Public Schools, ending his public school teaching career in 1981.

Jason’s father, Brian Eichenberger, is co-director of the Columbine Chorale and teaches vocal music at West High School where he conducts the famous “Singing Christmas Tree.” Raised in Denver, Brian attended George Washington High School and in March of 1974, he played the role of the music man Professor Harold Hill in the school’s production of “The Music Man.” The production was directed by Nancy Priest and presented in the George Washington High School auditorium.

Thirty years later, George Washington High School will again present “The Music Man” with the role of Professor Harold Hill played by Jason Eichenberger. The production will be directed by Debbie Lee and be presented in the newly-renamed Nancy Priest auditorium at the school.

George Washington High School is located at 655 S. Monaco St. The school’s phone number is 303-394-8600.
