Four Northwest Denver Middle Schools Host Community Nights For Prospective Students

Four middle schools will host community nights in April to showcase what they have to offer to prospective students - Horace Mann on Monday, April 19; Skinner on Wednesday, April 21; Baker on Thursday, April 22; and Lake on Thursday, April 29.

Horace Mann Middle School‘s Sunnyside school community night is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 19. The community and neighboring elementary school students and their parents are invited to visit the school and investigate the great educational opportunities that are offered at Horace Mann. There will also be presentations from North High School, CEC Middle College of Denver and Regis College. Numerous neighborhood organizations will be present. There will be demonstrations and music as well as refreshments. Horace Mann Middle School is located at 4130 Navajo St. The phone number is 303-433-2553.

Skinner Middle School will host its third annual Skinner community night from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21. The centerpiece of the evening will be the Cherry Creek Arts Festival Mobile Art Collection. An array of professional art mediums will be on display in the school library and students will serve as docents to provide information about the various art forms. Additional activities will include a caricature artist, an animal balloon artist, a book fair, displays from Skinner’s clubs and classes, presentations by North High School students, and small displays by elementary schools. Local restaurants will participate in A Taste of Northwest Denver, and several local human service agencies will share information about their services and programs. Skinner Community Night will be fun and informative for children of all ages. Skinner Middle School is located at 3435 W. 40th Ave. The phone number is 303-433-8851.

Baker Middle School will host a school community celebration event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 22. The night will be filled with music, dance, arts and academics. The Fairmont Elementary School ballet and honor choir, Greenlee Elementary School Scottish dancers, Baker AVID program, Barnum Elementary School Tae-Kwon-Do team doing martial arts demonstrations, Del Pueblo Elementary School choral poetry group, West High School singers, and CEC Middle College of Denver will all participate in the event. Refreshments will be served to all visitors to the event. Baker Middle School is located at 574 W. Sixth Ave. The phone number is 303-620-5560.

Lake Middle School’s community night is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29. The evening will be filled with teacher and student demonstrations about academic, sports and extra curricular programs. These demonstrations will help inform the elementary community about the instruction and culture that Lake Middle School has to offer.
