“Tellerpalooza” At The Bluebird Theater Thursday, April 15 To Benefit Teller Elementary School’s Music Program; Chris Daniels Joins Line-Up

The Teller Elementary School PTA is hosting an exciting night of blues, rock, rhythm and blues, and jazz at the Bluebird Theater on Thursday, April 15 with some top musical talent.

“Tellerpalooza” will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Well-known singer and songwriter Chris Daniels will perform a solo set. (His band, “The Kings,” are unavailable.) And Toast, a nine-year veteran of the Denver music scene, is already confirmed. More artists will be announced as they are booked.

The benefit will support Teller’s instrumental and vocal music programs. While the November 2003 mill levy election will provide additional funds for art and music education to all schools in the district, including Teller, the Board of Education has indicated that the new taxpayer support for art and music should be in addition to existing art and music programs.

Tickets are available by calling 303-598-0061, e-mailing yawger@comcast.net or by visiting the theater web site via http://www.nipp.com. (Look for the Bluebird Theater under the “All Locations” drop-down menu.)

“Teller has continued to make music education a high priority even through some diffcult budget years,” said Teller principal Karti Lyons. “This is a direct reflection of the high priority this community places on music and the arts. The PTA has been key to supporting this important opportunity for students and our goal, with the additional mill levy dollars, is to make the student experience even more rich and rewarding.”

Teller Elementary School, Lyons noted, has a good track record for producing students who are accepted into the Denver School of the Arts, which includes a rigorous audition process.

Teller Elementary School, 1150 Garfield St., is Congress Park neighborhood’s best-kept secret. Teller boasts a renovated, state-of-the-art facility where enrollment reflects Denver’s cultural diversity. The involved community and staff promote the value of a solid educational foundation and provide Teller students with the tools for achieving high academic standards, including a comprehensive curriculum, challenge and enrichment programs, on-site child care, full day kindergarten, and an experienced, caring faculty.
