A series of general informational meetings regarding the DPSRS/PERA merger have been scheduled for active and retired members of the Denver Public Schools Retirement System.

These meetings will be held around the city at the 10 high schools beginning on Saturday, March 27.

Meetings held during weekdays will offer two identical discussion sessions. Each session will cover the same material. All DPS employees, DPS charter school employees and retirees are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.

The meetings will cover six areas intended to give the members general information about the merger:

1. An overview of the merger process
2. A comparison of the demographics of the two plans
3. General benefit comparisons of the two pension systems
4. DPSRS member issues
5. Retiree health care options in PERA
6. Timeline to January 1, 2005

Each session will begin with presentations lasting 15-20 minutes followed by a question and answer session. Presenters will include John MacPherson, DPSRS Communications Director; Lita Weinstein, Director of Employee Benefits for DPS; and Dennis Gatlin, Field Education Manager for PERA.

The meeting schedule follows. All weekday meeting sessions begin at 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Saturday meeting sessions will begin at 10 a.m.

• Saturday, May 1 at South High School, 1700 E. Louisiana Ave.
• Monday, May 3 at Abraham Lincoln High School, 2285 S. Federal Blvd.
