The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development (MOWD), CEC Middle College of Denver and Human Services Inc. will host a youth city-wide job fair sponsored by the Governor’s Summer Job Hunt and Channel 9. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St.
This job fair will provide youth ages 14 and up with the opportunity to complete summer job applications and get questions answered by employers. Over 30 employers are expected to participate. Job readiness workshops will be provided throughout the day for youth attending the fair. Students from all Denver Public Schools high schools will be bussed to the Colorado Convention Center for the fair.
All businesses interested in filling temporary, summer positions with youth are invited to participate in this event by staffing an employment table, at no cost to their company. We have a sense of duty, as leaders in workforce, youth development and community organizing, to recognize areas of need among our youth and do our best to fill the gaps where we can.
Volunteers from the community have come forth to make this event a success for our Denver youth. The Hyatt Regency Denver human resources staff will be working the registration tables and helping students complete a variety of forms, Career Magic Job Search Coach will be presenting interviewing techniques at one of the on-going seminars, youth from Ridge View Academy Youth Services Center will be ushering, as well as youth from the Youth Direct Program within MOWD.
