More than 20 elementary school students who participate in Denver Public Schools Educational Outreach Program will help people in the Denver area say thanks. Through Snell & Wilmer’s T.H.A.N.K.S. (Through Healing Art, Needy Kids Succeed) program, students will create artwork that depicts gratitude. Some of their creations will become greeting cards sold to benefit the Educational Outreach Program (EOP). The EOP’s mission is to help children use education as their main defense against the cycle of poverty. This program provides students with transportation to school, school supplies, school clothes, prescription eye glasses, after school programs and much more.
Nationally-recognized Denver artist Carlos Fresquez will teach the students basic art techniques to help them create their visual representation of thanks. The artwork will tour Denver office and retail buildings next week and will be posted on the Snell & Wilmer website, www.swlaw.com. Denver-area residents and businesspeople will vote for the creations they want to become greeting cards at the tour stops and online.
The most popular artwork will become a set of greeting cards that will be sold exclusively through Tattered Cover Book Stores and the EOP. All proceeds generated will benefit the EOP.
Photo Opportunity: From 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at Ebert Elementary School, 410 Park Avenue West, more than 20 disadvantaged elementary school students will create paintings and mosaics that display thanks as part of the Snell & Wilmer T.H.A.N.K.S. Denver Children.
