The Marines will honor fifth-grade student Jesus Fierro of Johnson Elementary School at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12 for a poem he wrote titled “My Dream.” His poem is about wanting to become a Marine.

After a poetry lesson, Jesus continued to write poems on his own. Teacher Davene Cervantes submitted the poem to a local recruiting branch and Sergeant Holly responded, saying the Marines would like to present Jesus with a gift.
