CEC Middle College Of Denver, Mayor’s Office Of Workforce Development And Human Services, Inc. To Host Employers Breakfast

The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development has partnered with CEC Middle College of Denver and Human Services, Inc. to host an employers breakfast at the school’s Eliot Street Café from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The purpose of the breakfast is to encourage companies in the community to get involved with schools and youth in making a difference now for future employment by providing skills and training through: work experience; internships; mentoring; job shadowing; and volunteer and job opportunities.

Sampling delicious food prepared by CEC culinary arts students, employers can meet CEC’s staff of industry-trained professionals and see students in action in a real-world environment in one of 22 career-oriented classes.

This premier career and technical magnet school allows high school students to earn credits toward a college associate’s degree while taking four courses a year at Community College of Denver. Emily Griffith Opportunity School is a partner in this effort. The part-time career/technical program, which includes 22 highly acclaimed courses, is offered to all Metro Denver high school students. Students spend part of the day in their home school and the remainder at CEC. The full-time Middle College is an intensive full-day program for students in grades 9 through 12. This program offers a blend of technology-based, academic course work and career studies. Admission to the full-time program is by application and interview. In both programs, students learn from experienced industry professionals as they prepare for the growing demands of the 21st century workplace or the college setting. College credit is available in several CEC courses.
