From "Politically Incorrect Potato and Sausage Soup" to "Pad Gra Pow Guy Basil Chicken," the "Slavens Explorations in Cooking" recipe book includes a wide variety of culinary treasures from the teachers, students, staff, parents and other members of the extended Slavens School family.
The beautifully bound book is on sale at the school, 3000 S. Clayton St., for $15. Proceeds support the Slavens PTA.
The recipe collection includes grand recipes from Mayor John Hickenlooper, Helen Thorpe (Mayor Hickenlooper's wife), Colorado Gov. Bill Owens, area restaurants and even a dude ranch.
Hundreds of recipes in all are sorted into eight sections - hors d'oeuvres, brunch, soups & sandwiches, salads, vegetables & side dishes, main dishes, fast family favorites, and desserts. There's "Antojito de Camaron Deshebrado" (shredded shrimp appetizer), "Chambers Chicks Chocolate Cake" and "Miracle 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies."
More than 12 nationalities are represented in the collection. Ages of contributors ranged from eight to 94.
