The Board of Education will hold a work session, public hearing and regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the administration building, 900 Grant St.
Following is a review of the agendas:
4 p.m. - Work Session, Room 706 (Please note some items may not be considered until after the regular meeting)
- Review of Board meeting agenda items
- Negotiations (closed)
5 p.m. - Regular Meeting, first floor Board Room
- Presentation – new Teacher Compensation Plan
- Motion to approve construction contract for Centennial Elementary School four-classroom addition and parking lot expansion project
- Motion to approve General Obligation Bond program and project management firm
- Motion to approve three-year contract with Qwest Corporation to provide high-speed data, voice and video communication lines to Abraham Lincoln, East, George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Manual, Montbello, South, Thomas Jefferson and West high schools and Martin Luther King Efficacy Academy
- Motion to approve change of Bradley Elementary School from an ECE-6 to an ECE-5 school
- Report on new Teacher Compensation Plan
- Report on staff recommendation to collaborate with RTD to provide high school transportation, allowing high schools to move bell times to 9 a.m. and 29 elementary schools to move bell times to 8 a.m.
- Report on staff recommendation to consolidate Ebert Elementary School enrollment with three nearby schools - Whittier, Wyman and Gilpin (includes transferring program that serves homeless students to Gilpin and relocating Polaris Program, currently at Crofton Elementary School, to Ebert)
- Report on Art and Music Mill Levy Committee guidelines and staff recommendations for use of $6.5 million mill levy initiative
- Report on staff recommendation to convert Bryant-Webster from an ECE-5 to a K-8 school
7 p.m. - Public Hearing, first floor Board Room
To date, 25 individuals have signed up to address the Board on topics such as DCTA; DPS Safety Cadet program; Ebert Elementary School; Green Valley Ranch schools; high school start times; literacy; Montbello High School; and parents voting.
The Board meeting also will include a performance from the Kepner Middle School Drama Club, recognition of Black Education Advisory Council members and proclamation of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
