National Council Of Negro Women To Present This Month At Jessie Whaley Maxwell Elementary; Musical Celebration Set For Next Week

Celebrating African-American History Month, speakers from the Nation Council of Negro Women, Denver Section, will address Jessie Whaley Maxwell Elementary students throughout the day today (Tuesday, Feb. 3) and also on Thursday, Feb. 5 and Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Celebrating the many contributions by African Americans is the theme of the presentations, which will take place every 30 to 40 minutes during three school days. Over 25 speakers are scheduled during the three-day event coordinated by Mrs. Claudette Sweet of the Council.
 
The school’s African-American History Month musical celebration performed by fourth- and fifth-grade students is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (for parents and families) Thursday Feb. 12 in the school’s auditorium. The program is coordinated by the school’s integrated arts teacher Mrs. Kerry Dehning. Students’ art work will be on display throughout the day for all to enjoy.
