Lake Middle School B.E.A.T. CSAP After-School Program Helps Students Prepare For CSAP

The 2nd Annual BEAT CSAP - Better Educated Assessment Tactics – after school program at Lake Middle School is preparing students for the statewide test by helping them develop test-taking strategies and easing anxiety. Students meet every Tuesday and Thursday after school through Thursday, March 4.

Currently, 45 students work in a round table format with four to five other students and a mentor. The program provides snacks and fun days for the students and mentors to create a comfortable learning environment. This format helps to initiate student-led discussions about CSAP type problems and allows them to develop their own test-strategies with the assistance of a mentor.

Last year students who participated regularly showed improvement in their scores. One student said, “This is the first time I finished the test, I didn’t even know I could finish it.”

For more information, contact Alex Magaña, Lake Middle School math coach, 303-575-4260. Lake Middle School is located at 1820 Lowell Blvd.
