| This week, students in southwest Denver can see a tar-filled pig lung, try exotic fruits and vegetables and get their vision screened. John F. Kennedy High School is hosting the 9Health Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 to bring the Southwest schools together and involve local community agencies. Fifth-grade students from Doull Elementary and Force elementary schools and sixth-grade students from Kepner and Kunsmiller middle schools will attend the fair.
John F. Kennedy High School student leaders planned and will implement the fair with the help of the Concorde Career Institute nursing students, teachers and parents.
Organizations including Denver Health, Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado 5 A Day and National Guard will provide a variety of interactive educational activities as well as health screenings.
Each year, more than 30,000 young people from 70 schools participate in this free program that enables students to learn more about their own health, safety issues, and medical trends. The In the Classroom program is offered statewide to elementary, middle and senior high schools from September through May. If you are interested in having a 9Health Fair, please contact Connie Naumann, Education Program Director, at 303-698-4455.
