| Members of the Colorado Rockies baseball team - a few of the coaches, players and Dinger the team mascot - will visit Jessie Whaley Maxwell Elementary School on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. as part of their “Winter Caravan.”
Each year during the off-season, the Rockies visit schools and businesses around the state to express their gratitude for fan support.
This is the only DPS school team members will visit this year, but they will also be visiting Larimie, Wyoming and Steamboat Springs, Pueblo, Sterling, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs in the coming week.
Colorado Rockies Manager Clint Hurdle will lead the students in an academic pep-rally followed by a question and answer session with the players. During writer’s workshop (part of the district-wide literacy plan), students in all grade levels, from Early Childhood Education through fifth-grade have been generating questions for the players in preparation.
Jessie Whaley Maxwell Elementary School is located at 14390 E. Bolling Dr. in Montbello. The school’s telephone number is 303-576-6557. |
