McKinley-Thatcher Hosts School of Choice Open House

McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School community invites all prospective new students and their families to attend a School of Choice Open House from Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23. Welcome packets will be distributed to all visitors. School tours will be given at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day.

On Thursday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m., parents are invited to attend a special "Coffee and Conversation with the Principal and Staff" to learn about the many program offerings at McKinley-Thatcher.

Featured programs will include Early Education (ECE and kindergarten), reader's and writer's workshop, art, music, Spanish, library media/technology, physical education, the Gifted and Talented Challenge Program, and SPREE, a school-wide environmental education program focusing on the South Platte River. The presentation also will include information on Scholastic Reading Counts, a motivational reading program that has helped McKinley-Thatcher's third- through fifth-graders achieve high ratings on the CSAP reading assessment for the past two years.

To share the good news about their school, McKinley-Thatcher families are distributing open house invitations to every home in the school's boundary area as well as local preschools.

McKinley-Thatcher is located at 1230 S. Grant St. (at the corner of Logan and Louisiana). For more information about the open house or directions to the school, please call 303-777-8816 or visit the school's web site at http://mckinleythatcher.dpsk12.org.
