North High School Marching Band, Cheerleaders To Lead National Western Stock Show Parade Downtown On Tuesday, Jan. 13

The marching band and cheerleaders from North High School will lead the parade for the 98th Annual National Western Stock Show, Rodeo & Horse Show at noon in downtown Denver on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The parade begins at Union Station (17th and Wynkoop streets). The band will kick off the parade by playing the National Anthem.

The Denver North Marching Band has been evolving for the last decade, from providing entertainment at sporting events and parades to performing at band competitions.

This 50-member marching band, with its unique style and purpose to educate, is at its pinnacle of success. In the past five years, the band has performed in the National Western Stock Show Parade, the Parade of Lights and the Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade for which the band has won "Best High School Marching Band" for the last four years. In addition, the band took a trip to Los Angeles, Calif., in May to compete in a National Music Festival, winning first place in marching with an excellent musical rating and winning the festival’s top award - the "Espirit de Dorps" Award.

The band is under the direction of Mr. Daniel Cevallos with Drum Majors Jason DeHerrera and Tomas Gonzales. The band’s colors are purple and gold.

North is the only Denver high school with its own marching band. Students from other schools (North included) participate in the Denver Citywide Marching Band.

For more information, contact Dan Cevallos, North High School, 303-964-2700.
