“Harmony Project” Will Share Asian Culture At Remington Elementary School Wednesday, Dec. 10

Remington Elementary School is working with The Harmony Project this year to match teachers with professional artists to educate the children in Asian culture utilizing dance, music, theatre and visual arts.

On Wednesday, Dec. 10 the Remington community is invited to attend a “Demonstration of Learning” to find out what students have discovered. Students have been studying very hard and would like to invite the community to share what they have learned about the Asian culture.

The third-, fourth- and fifth-graders have been studying Asia. They will perform for students in Early Childhood Education through second grade from 2 to 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. the intermediate students, teachers and their artists will stay and have a few light refreshments and discuss their overall experiences with the Harmony Project.

The demonstrations are as follows in order of performance:

  • Theater Group performing a Japanese play
  • Dance Group performing Indian dances
  • Music Group performing Tibetan music
  • Visual Arts Group displaying Hmong, Vietnamese and Chinese art production

Last year, Remington fourth- and fifth-graders studied Mexican culture. The Harmony Project has been focusing on cultural themes and clustering grade levels.

The event will be held in the school cafeteria at 4735 Pecos St. The school’s telephone number is 303-433-6461.
