“Love, Laughter & Lagrimas” At North High School Nov 20 – 22

North High School’s Black Masque Drama Club is proud to present “Love, Laughter & Lagrimas (Tears),” an evening of comic and tragic scenes and monologues by an eclectic array of writers, including William Shakespeare, John Leguizamo, David Ives, Ntozake Shange, and Federico Garcia Lorca.

This “theatrical happening” features the talents of students from North High School. The selected material is chosen from contemporary and classic tragedies, comedies, and love stories. This cabaret-like evening offers students the opportunity to 'sink their teeth' into the words of great writers: from the verse of Shakespeare - to the passion of Federico Garcia Lorca - to the hilarious antics of John Leguizamo.

The show is directed by Jose Mercado in his first production as Drama Teacher at North High School. Mr. Mercado returns to Denver after earning his masters degree from UCLA and subsequently teaching acting to freshman at UCLA's School of Theater Film and Television. His professional theater credits in Los Angeles include the Pulitzer Prize Winning Play “Wit” and “Mayhem,” the latter starring Emmy winning actress Megan Mullally of NBC's “Will & Grace.”

Tickets to this eclectic show may be purchased at the door. Tickets are $5. Performances are Nov. 20, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. in the North High School Auditorium, located at 2960 N. Speer Blvd. Call 303-964-2700 for more information.
