This week at Harrington Elementary School in celebration of Veteran's Day the Harrington Girls' Club collected over 1,500 dimes ($150). The money will be used to purchase gift certificates for two local veterans’ nursing homes.

The gift certificates will be used by the nursing home to purchase books, videos or musical CD's for the veterans. The gift certificates will be given to Colorado State Veteran Home at Fitzsimons and the Nursing Care Unit at the Denver Veteran's Hospital. Students at Harrington also made Veterans' Day cards for the veterans.

The Harrington Girl's Club - for girls in third through fifth grade - performs a number of community service projects throughout the year. The club is sponsored by school psychologist Ellen Kelty.
