From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Emily Griffith Opportunity School (EGOS) will host an open house for its newly-relocated Aircraft Training Center at the Front Range Airport (six miles southeast of Denver International Airport).
Denver Public Schools, the Front Range Airport Authority and the Adams County Economic Development Council will also host the event, which will feature hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and tours of the 5,625 square foot temporary space. The permanent space, opening at the airport in June 2004, will be 15,400 square feet.
The Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics program has been in existence at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School since the 1940s. Since 1965, it has been located at Stapleton. The program prepares students for employment in the general and commercial aviation industry. Students who complete the program are eligible to take the FAA examinations for their A & P license.
Classes will begin in mid October and last 22 months. EGOS is anticipating 80 students in the program this fall. To register, access www.egos-school.com or call 303-575-4702.
The Emily Griffith Opportunity School for students 17 and older serves 15,000 students annually. The school offers 350 courses, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive post-secondary vocational and technical training centers in Colorado. Credit from technical programs is transferable to the Colorado community college system for those students desiring an AAS (Associate of Applied Science) degree. Many classes are open-entry/open-exit so students can start class when it's convenient and work at their own pace. The school is located at 1250 Welton St.
