Robert J. Scott Appointed To Head DPS Retirement System

The Board of Trustees of the Denver Public Schools Retirement System (DPSRS) announced today the selection of Mr. Robert J. Scott to serve as the Executive Director when current Executive Director Dave Stella's resignation becomes effective on Dec. 2, 2003.

Mr. Scott retired from Colorado PERA in the summer of 2000 having served as the Executive Director for 16 years. Mr. Scott currently is involved with independent marketing and consulting for pension and investment plans and a non-profit professional association dedicated to the preservation of defined benefit pension plans.

Bob Scott brings an immediate familiarity of DPSRS and the Denver School System to this position. He is keenly aware of the challenges the System faces in maintaining an on-going plan operation while preparing for the potential merger with Colorado PERA. His priorities in assuming the Executive Director's position include the preservation of benefit levels for DPSRS retired and active members and the retention of current DPSRS staff.

Mr. Scott will begin his employment with the DPSRS effective Nov. 1, 2003 to allow sufficient overlap with Mr. Stella.

DPSRS Board of Trustees Chairman, John MacPherson, expressed his pleasure with the selection of Bob Scott as Executive Director. "The Board of Trustees feels extremely fortunate to be able to tap the skills, knowledge, and abilities of an experienced person such as Bob Scott. We look forward to a very smooth transition when Dave Stella departs for Wisconsin,” he said.
