CEC Students Accepted into Prestigious Medical Collaborative

Five students in the DPS Career Education Center’s Middle College of Denver Med Prep program have been selected for participation in the prestigious medical collaborative, MC2 Program, at Children’s Hospital.

MC2 opens opportunities to qualifying high schools in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe Counties. This program offers high school students the opportunity to explore issues and careers related to health care through experience and exposure.

The five CEC students are among 18 high school juniors and seniors selected from the metro Denver area. They will participate in monthly career exposure opportunities, a paid internship at The Children’s Hospital and pre-collegiate assistance and mentoring. Also included are quarterly events for students, introducing them to issues of public health, legislative advocacy, nutrition and sport injuries.

The students were selected based on completion of an application; three personal references; a 3.0 or better GPA; and an essay.

CEC students who will participate are:

  • Ciara R. Ervin-Adkins – CEC Middle College of Denver
  • Bobbie Marie Martinez – Manual High School – Millennium Quest
  • Joseph Brake - Denver Christian
  • Ron W. Choi – Denver Christian
  • Ja’Niece Wells – George Washington High School
