South High School Rebels Advance To Semi-Final Soccer Match; Next Game Saturday, Nov. 1 At 4 P.M.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the South High School Rebel soccer team defeated Grandview High School in an over time shoot out at All-City Field.

The Rebels rebounded from a 3-0 half-time deficit to tie the score with three minutes left in the game. Senior Joey Miller made two brilliant saves in the shoot-out to secure the victory for the Rebels. The Rebels won the match 5-4.

The Rebels now advance to the semi-final round of the state play-offs. The Rebels will be playing Poudre High School at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 1. The game will be played at Five Star Stadium. To get to the Thornton 5 Star Stadium site, take I-25 to Thornton Parkway, go east to Washington Street, and then south to the stadium. The stadium is on the east side of the street. Parking is available across the street at Thornton High School.

There are usually huge crowds at the semi-final games. Give yourself plenty of time to stand in line and buy your ticket ($5).

In addition, South High School soccer player Roger Espinoza will be featured this Sunday by Marcia Neville and News 4 (KCNC-TV0 as the Prep Athlete of the Week. Roger was also named as the Prep Athlete of the week by the Rocky Mountain News. Additionally, Rebel Steven Ziprich was selected as the Prep Athlete of the week for the Denver Post.
