Abraham Lincoln High School will host the annual Denver Public Schools Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 1 beginning at 8 a.m.
The tournament, named this year in memory of Curtis Garret, speech coach and English teacher at North High School until 1992, will host 25 schools from across the Front Range in such events as Lincoln-Douglas debates, cross-examination debates, poetry, humorous and dramatic interpretation, extemporaneous speaking and original oratory.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third-place winners. A sweepstakes trophy will also be handed out for the team with the most finalists.
