SBA Chief Economist To Speak At East High School

David Peters’ Advanced Placement Microeconomics Class at East High School will host Dr. Chad Moutray, Chief Economist for the Small Business Administration’s Advocacy Office, on Friday, Oct. 3 from 7:30 to 8:20 a.m.

Dr. Moutray was invited by Junior Achievement of Rocky Mountain, Inc. to talk about the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs in Colorado.

Small business owners comprise almost 98 percent of all state businesses. As women and minorities continue to make gains as a growing percentage of business owners, the message of entrepreneurship is especially relevant to DPS students. Junior Achievement brings that message to over 23,000 district students each year through the efforts of more than 1,000 volunteers from the business community.

Moutray joined the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy in October 2002. He is the Chief Economist and Director of the Office of Economic Research. He oversees the research being conducted internally and externally through contracts.

Prior to his current post, Dr. Moutray was the Dean of the School of Business Administration at Robert Morris College in Chicago, where he taught economics and finance courses. He has a Ph.D. in economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a masters and bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University.

For more information, please call Nancy Carter with Junior Achievement at 303-534-5252.
