ElderPlace Open at Brown Elementary School

ElderPlace, a Medicaid-certified older adult day program, is open for business from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Brown Elementary School, 2550 Lowell Blvd., Room 117.

Medicaid pays for program; private pay is $39-$42/day. The cost includes meals, snacks, activities, and medication assistance.

The program is designed for elders who would like some fun and companionship or for caregivers who need a comfortable, friendly place for their family member to stay during the day or week. It is designed to keep elder clients mentally, socially and physically active to the best of their abilities. The program promotes the well-being of each individual through a variety of fun activities: word games; exercise; singing; arts and crafts; drama; outings; parties; current events/news; table games; and reminiscing.

The program also offers the unique opportunity of involving elders with the young students at this school. The elders have the option of visiting classrooms, listening to students read and helping them with worksheets. There will also be an intergenerational music and movement group designed to increase "brain power" for both elders and children.
