At 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, Fairmont Elementary School will unveil its mural project after months of work that continued throughout the summer.
The mural is on the west side of the school. The event will be held in the school’s auditorium and will include a slide show that chronicles the progress of the Fairmont Elementary Mural Project, whose images illustrate cultural diversity and learning – such as technological advancements – over time.
Students from Fairmont Elementary School, Baker Middle School and the Contemporary Learning Academy partnered with artist Izzy Lozano and community members to create the mural.
The project is funded by Xcel Energy and sponsored by the Art Students League of Denver, which provides fine arts classes for students of all abilities and ages taught by nationally recognized artists.
Izzy Lozano and Leona Lazar, executive director of the Art Students League of Denver, will speak at the event.
Fairmont Elementary School is located at 520 W. 3rd Ave. For information, contact the school at 303-893-1957.
