At 1:55 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 27), Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar and Mississippi Attorney General Mike Moore will meet with students at North High School, 2960 N. Speer Blvd., to talk about tobacco issues, smoking prevention and making healthy lifestyle choices. Superintendent Jerry Wartgow will be in attendance.
Attorney General Moore will talk about the tobacco lawsuit and settlement, and what this means for young people throughout the nation. Moore is nationally known for leading the litigation against the major tobacco companies and his efforts to reduce youth smoking. Colorado was part of this lawsuit, and to date Colorado has received more than $370 million as its share of the tobacco settlement.
The two attorney generals will also answer questions and hear comments from the student and staff attendees.
